WEEKEND POST MAKEUP (IS THIS BECOMING A TREND? lol) 01/29/10-01/31/10

What's happening?

This is your fashion facilitator, D. Landry, coming at you with 3 days worth of posts. I hope that this doesn't become a trend, although I will say that it is only because I have been a very busy man, that I have not been able to make the daily posts that I have been promising.

Anyway, as a great man once said, "There's no crying in fashion!!", so let's proceed to the clothes:

This is a really fresh outfit with a color combination that, though very busy, was still able to be worn successfully. For example, the cap, which is from the CA based line, The Hundreds, is black with hints of red, yellow, and white. Nothing more. The logo is a nod to the famous enemy character from the Super Mario Bros. series.

One of the coolest shirts that I have owned (recently acquired, thanks to my $5 off at Hot Topic). This is a Voltron: Defender of the Universe t-shirt. Got lots of compliments from people about this shirt. I like it because it contains the colors from the cap, and thus ties the colors together from the shoes.

Speaking of shoes, these are the Reebok Pumps, made in honor of the Black Lion zord from the Voltron cartoon series. I was very fortunate to pick this pair of shoes from the Tipping Point of Houston Texas, some years ago. Very dope tennis shoe if I may say so myself.

On to the first (of the three) Saturday outfits:

In this outfit collective, I want to show how easy it is to transform one outfit into another with a simple accessory/piece change. Many people have the misconception that it takes a massive deal to sell appeal, but I believe otherwise. All you need are a few shirts, some accessories, some magic, and a out-the-box imagination.

Ironically, this is not much of an outfit at all, seeing as this is my work uniform for my job with Upward Bound. The only difference from last week is the shirt (it is short sleeve, not long sleeve), and the cap that I decided to wear (it is a Dave's Quality Meats New Era 59/50). Very simple color palette I choose to stick with on this one.

Now to the second:

For this particular outfit, I decided to change the cap and the t-shirt. The t-shirt is from a company called Caked-Out, famous for their riffs and commentary on pop-culture icons or infamous figures. This one is about Michael Jackson, him being both young, black and gifted, alongside of being old, light[er] and still gifted (RIP).

And finally the third:

The aviator head piece in this picture is from Urban Outfitters. Nuff said. I think it's cool.

The final outfit for today's post is what I wore yesterday:

Cool, fresh, and simple. I really enjoy this color way. Really dope, patriotic and sleek. The clothes fit well and it shoes.

I got the fedora from Urban Outfitters, and the striped bow-tie is from Brooks Brothers. The shoes are from Levi's. They are an emulation of the very popular Chuck Taylor low-top. Nice.
